This is an exciting programme developed in collaboration with Iskandar Malaysia Development Authority (IRDA) to provide bright secondary school leavers from financially challenged background a chance to pursue their dream of becoming a Chartered Accountant while being employed by a sponsoring company at the same time.
A. Chart a pathway for school leavers who are willing to work and study at the same time and be certified with a range of the ACCA accountancy qualifications (e.g. ACCA Certificate of Achievement, ACCA Diploma in Accounting & Business, ACCA Advanced Diploma in Accounting & Business, Strategic Professional Certificate) as they progress up the levels from a junior accounts apprentice to a Chartered Accountant.
B. Assist enterprise in Iskandar Malaysia in meeting their manpower needs whilst fulfilling their corporate social responsibilities in training the younger generation.
C. Attract talents from the local community by making world-class accounting education accessible to them; thereby, nurturing more accounting talents for all the industries in Iskandar Malaysia.
Established in 1904, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), based in the UK, is one of the world’s largest global professional accounting body that offers the Chartered Accountant qualification. ACCA qualifications are internationally recognised, and graduates of the ACCA programme generally possess a formidable reputation in the market for being highly skilled. As Malaysia’s top regulatory body for the accountancy profession, the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) recognises the ACCA qualification for the purpose of becoming a licensed Chartered Accountant (CA) in Malaysia. It is also recognised by Malaysian Public Service Department (or JPA) for the purpose of employment in the public service sector. ACCA students who pass the ACCA professional level can definitely look forward to a wide variety of enriching career choices available in Malaysia and abroad. I’m glad I joined the programme. It gave me the opportunity to pursue a fully sponsored education in professional accounting while acquiring real life work experience in an accounting firm (Rockacc Solutions Sdn. Bhd.) for a year at the same time. The head of this programme pays close attention to our well-being and works hard to ensure our training success. I also had a pleasant experience with the company I worked for, as the staff were unhesitant to provide guidance whenever I faced a problem.

This is a great programme. It serves as a good complement to the things I haven’t had the chance to learn during my secondary school years. PwC (Pricewaterhouse Cooper), the firm where we had our internship done was also kind enough to organize plenty of outdoor activities to get our social skills refined so we could be more confident when dealing with clients or doing presentations. More importantly, we get to further our study in professional accounting for free while earning salaries, and gain on-the-job experience, by working in a real accounting firm.
